Urban Courtyard

Nestled in the heart of Boston’s South End, the contemporary style of the newly renovated brownstone needed an exterior counterpart.

The design strategy was to take the dark uninviting space and transform it into several ‘garden rooms’ using the warmth of wood and the softness of plant material. The lower room acts as spillover space for the playroom for two very active toddlers. The upper room was designed as the dining terrace, where a pergola and modern lighting create an intimate dining experience.
